Mogadishu, 20 June 2025 – Twelve members of the Khawaarij (Al-Shabaab), including key leaders, were killed in a special joint operation conducted by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Somali Security Forces, and International Partners. The targeted location was a house in Aadan Yabaal district, which served as a major command and logistics hub for Al-Shabaab.
During the operation, A number of enemy vehicles and large caches of weapons and ammunition were destroyed, The operation unfolded as planned and was precise in its execution.
The main targets were senior Al-Shabaab commanders who had been responsible for major attacks against Somali civilians. Their names will be released in due time after confirmation.
The Federal Government of Somalia, in collaboration with its people and international allies, reaffirms its commitment to eliminating the Khawaarij. It emphasizes that no place is safe for those who spill the blood of the Somali people.
